We would like to invite you to a very special event on March 12, 2010. This year at our 56th Annual Scholarship Benefit we are honoring Jackie Lee Houston as our 2010 Diamond Award Recipient. The Diamond Award is given annually to a multi-faceted women leader who has distinguished herself in character and service to others. She is one whom young women can respect, admire and emulate.
Jackie Lee is no stranger to awards. Her tireless devotion to supporting the diverse needs of our community and her open and gracious style is widely known and recognized. She has inspired a host of others to give back to their communities. Her enthusiasm and dedication are unparalleled and make her an ideal role model for all of us.
Personal Tribute
We also invite you to honor Jackie Lee by making a personal tribute in our Diamonds Are Forever Program and/or donating to the Diamond Award Scholarship Fund in her name. Your donation, not only honors Jackie Lee, but it supports a 56 year-old scholarship program.
Diamond Award Legacy Scholarship Fund
Last year we established a Diamond Award Legacy Scholarship Fund to raise money in the names of our Diamond Award Honorees. It is our goal to fully fund a legacy scholarship in the names of each of our recipients. Once funded, we will give a scholarship annually in her name.
Honor and Support
The goals of the Diamond Award are to honor women who have a made a difference, and through the Diamond Award Legacy Scholarship Fund support the deserving young women leaders of tomorrow. Contributions made to the Diamond Award Legacy Scholarship Fund will greatly increase the money available for scholarships each year and ensure funds are available for future graduates.
CVAP Scholarships
Our totally volunteer-group has raised approximately $640,000 to assist Coachella Valley high school women reach their goals through higher education. This represents scholarships to 340 graduating high school seniors. Scholarships are awarded to college-bound women at each of the Coachella Valley’s public high schools.
Most of the young women are the first in their family to attend college. Scholarships are based on academic excellence, community and school involvement, and personal interview. These scholarships have given our Coachella Valley young women the opportunity to attend the top schools in California and across the country.
As the cost of a college education continues to rise, financial support becomes increasingly important. Your participation and support play a major role in addressing the scholarship needs in Coachella Valley.
We hope you will join us to honor Jackie Lee Houston and help our young women achieve their goals and become the new leaders of tomorrow.
